If you know me personally then you’re well aware of the fact that I am a Sparks obsessive. The photo of me to the left was taken two summers ago at Stockholm’s Sodra Teatern, which held the world premiere listening party of Sparks’ most recent album, the epic musical The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman. It is truly the crowning achievement of the Mael Brothers’ 41 year career and I was honored to be one of the first people to listen to it alongside a theater full of Swedes. Earlier that year I flew to Japan to see them live in Tokyo where they performed their 2008 album Exotic Creatures of the Deep as well as their most famous record, 1974’s Kimono My House, both in their entirety. It was announced today that Sparks will be performing The Seduction… live at the L.A. Film Festival on June 25. I will definitely be there and will do my very best to bring what will surely be an incredible experience to the esoteric film/music lovers of Philadelphia.
Never turn your back on Mother Earth.
