The Philadelphia Japan Arts Matsuri (FYI matsuri = festival) will be holding a launch event at the Prince as a lead-in to a four-day festival featuring film, music, and art that is planned for this coming July. All proceeds from both events will benefit the Japanese Red Cross. The Friday the 13th event will feature the Philadelphia-area premiere of Yoshihiro Nishimura’s new film Helldriver followed by live performance from NYC-based Japanese bands Uzuhi and High Teen Boogie. If you’re unfamiliar with Nishimura’s brand of gore-heavy comedy/splatter films, titles of which include Tokyo Gore Police and Mutant Girls Squad, then check out the Helldriver trailer here.
