Lucas Mangum’s Horror Corner: APR 8 – 14

Lucas Mangum’s Horror Corner is a weekly roundup of recent horror-related posts from around the web; a handy guide to the notable horror happenings of the past week.  Enjoy…

Apparently, chasing down Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s sadistic remakes wasn’t enough for Malcolm McDowell.  He’s up for hunting down the evil Santa Claus in the remake of Silent Night Deadly Night. (Bloody Disgusting)

The Evil Dead remake began filming April 11.  Some are bound to be hyped while others may be crying for the filmmakers’ blood.  Let it begin! (Bloody Disgusting)

Looks like Ti West’s next project will be an adaptation of the bestselling Bedbugs.  Since it’s Mr. West, awesomeness is almost guaranteed. (Deadline)

Heh, see, I liked Pineapple Express.  That being said, my skepticism of David Gordon Green’s ability to do a remake of Suspiria that does justice to the original is high.  I like his work, but Suspiria is one of those untouchables.  That being said, I used to feel the same way about Dawn of the Dead.  Let’s hope for the best. (Bloody Disgusting)

Dig into the nasty trailer for the Japanese body horror film, Henge! (Bloody Disgusting)

Bloody Disgusting ranked the 12 Friday the 13th films.  Do you agree with them?

The Carrie remake is headed to theaters March 15, 2013. (Bloody Disgusting)

Mega-Spider may seem like just another monster movie, but I’m confident that the involvement of Mike Mendez (director of the lovely piece of self-referential work, The Convent) will raise this well above the standard. (Dread Central)

Dread Central interviewed Doug Jones about John Dies at the End, Frankenstein, and more.

Check out this video interview with Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard. (Dread Central)

Red House promises subtlety and suspense.  The trailer and synopsis sound promising. (Dread Central)

Add Doomsday Prophecy to the list of films about… doomsday prophecies. (Dread Central)

So, David Cronenberg may direct the Hunger Games sequel?  Really? (L.A. Times)

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is finally going into production.  The first is one of my favorites, so it’s nice to see the other comics get the big screen treatment. (Dread Central)

Fangoria interviews Jena Sims, the 3D 50 Foot Cheerleader!

Scream Queen Tiffany Shepis advises what not to do on your first film. (Fangoria)

Fangoria interviews Shanley Caswell of the forthcoming Detention!

Coffin Joe and Nacho Vigalondo join the ever expanding list of participants in The Profane Exhibit.  Sweet! (Twitch Film)
