The fine folks at Exhumed Films have announced a double bill of Italian genre classics that will screen at 8:00 PM on Friday, September 16 at the Audubon Auction House in Audubon, NJ. Starcrash is an amazing Star Wars ripoff starring the likes of David Hasselhoff, Christopher Plummer, and former child evangelist Marjoe Gortner (Viva Knievel!). The friendly looking gentleman standing beside me in the picture below is the film’s director, the great Luigi Cozzi (Alien Contamination; the Lou Ferrigno Hercules film where he throws a bear into outer space and it explodes and becomes a constellation [props to Dean G.]). These days Cozzi spends his time minding Dario Argento’s Rome-based museum/gift shop (mentioned just yesterday in the Cinema dei Piccoli post, hm) and attending the occasional horror convention. I’ve never seen the night’s second feature, Antonio Margheriti’s Yor, the Hunter from the Future, but the title has a lot to live up to. See you there.
