AMC Theatres present a Harry Potter marathon

Potter fans rejoice!  AMC are presenting a four night celebration of the magical franchise that features theatrical screenings of all eight films including the brand new finale.  This is occurring in only 35 theaters nationwide with the AMC Neshaminy 24 representing locally.  The breakdown is as follows:  Parts 1 + 2 MON July 11 @ 6:00 PM; Parts 3 + 4 TUE July 12 @ 6:00 PM; Parts 5 + 6 WED July 13 @ 6:00 PM; Parts 7 + 8 (or 7A + 7B if you prefer) THU July 14 @ 9:00 PM.  $45 will grant you admission to the entire series and will include a commemorative lanyard, a retrospective booklet, and commemorative 3D glasses.  For those of you who can’t bring themselves to revisit the series for the millionth time, $20 tickets are available exclusively for the THU July 14 program and you’ll still get the special 3D glasses.

I was on a film shoot in Cleveland with my friend Pete when I first discovered Harry Potter.  We went out on a limb and (wisely) chose to see the first Potter film in the theater over Spy Game and within two weeks we’d both read all four of the books that had been released at that time.  I’ll miss looking forward to a new Potter film once the series ends, I’ve found them consistently comforting and, for the most part, enjoyable.  And I’m not ashamed to admit that.

  1. It’s worth mentioning that at Neshaminy’s midnight screenings (several going on at once) of Deathly Hallows Part 1, the power went out a minute or two before the film ended. Just a warning to those going.
